WEST EJ - Community Champions Launch
Become a Community Champion to Address Environmental and Energy Challenges in Your Community
We are excited to announce the launching of our WEST EJ Center Community Champions Program! Our paid program will provide cohorts capacity building, leadership training, peer learning and support through a cohort approach tailored to participants’ interests. Cohort members will be drawn from Arizona, California, Hawaiʻi, Nevada, and the US Affiliated Pacific Islands, including Native American Tribes and Indigenous communities in these areas. Cohorts will have opportunities to meet virtually to build learning communities with higher potential to work collaboratively with a range of groups to address environmental, energy, and climate injustices.
This is a paid opportunity where cohort members are expected to commit 4 hours per month for 12 months virtually. You will be compensated a total of $1,200 for completing the program.
Cohort members will be provided the tools to:
- Lead on environmental justice challenges, energy, and environmental movements;
- Advocate and learn steps to develop policy for their communities; and
- Develop technical skills to address environmental justice issues in their communities.
Are you eligible to become a community champion?
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be US citizens, US nationals, or foreign nationals with a visa permitting permanent residence in the US
- Must live in Arizona, California, Hawai’i, Nevada or the US Affiliated Pacific Islands
- Must be able to commit 4 hours a month for 12 months
