About
I have been actively involved in environmental and energy justice work within my community, particularly through my collaboration with the Fillmore Youth Conservation Corps (FYCC). In partnership with FYCC, I participated in conservation efforts, including planting native plants and removing invasive species that threaten local ecosystems. This hands-on experience deepened my understanding of environmental stewardship and its importance for future generations.
In addition to my environmental work, I played a key role in advocating for affordable housing in Fillmore. As part of a youth-led initiative, my team successfully pushed for the construction of around 20-40 affordable housing units, with a focus on sustainability. These new homes will be powered by solar energy, ensuring that they are both energy-efficient and environmentally responsible. Through this work, I have gained valuable skills in community organizing, policy advocacy, and sustainable development, all while contributing to a more just and resilient future for my community.
